SYD + NICK

APRIL 20, 2024

HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED...

Syd and Nick met at work in Parsippany, NJ.

September 10, 2018, was Syd’s first day and her desk was next to Nick’s. The two rarely exchanged conversation at the office but found each other at happy hour together quite often (to avoid rush hour traffic, of course!); Hoover's Tavern quickly became their regular watering hole.

On a summer evening in 2019, the two stumbled upon “Christmas in July" at Hoover's. It was such a festive time that they both blew off other plans they made that night and chose instead to spend the evening together- in a snowball fight while watching the other patrons take shot-skis.

As they continued to get to know each other every moment felt perfect. They felt like their meeting was fate; Syd had never spent any time in north New Jersey, and Nick had only just moved back to the area from Denver a few months before they met.

On August 21, 2022, Syd and Nick (and Pepper) took a walk on the beach in beautiful Garden City, South Carolina. Reflecting on their journey to Garden City, but also in life, Nick asked Syd to marry him and of course, she said "yes!"

In deciding where to get married, the couple decided that their destination would be somewhere beautiful in New Jersey as an homage to their own return to the state.

Ladies and Gentlemen, gather 'round and listen up, because we've got a love story that's truly worth celebrating!

It all started on a fateful day in Parsippany, New Jersey, back in 2018. Syd had just joined the team, and little did she know that her desk was right next to Nick's. They may not have talked much during work hours, but outside the office, they were inseparable. They would hit up their local watering hole, Hoover's Tavern, to enjoy some post-work drinks and avoid the rush hour traffic.

But then, one summer evening in 2019, everything changed. Syd and Nick stumbled upon a festive event called "Christmas in July" at their favorite bar. The atmosphere was electric, and the two decided to ditch their other plans and spend the night together. They had a snowball fight and watched in awe as other patrons downed shot-skis.

As they spent more time together, Syd and Nick knew that their connection was meant to be. It was fate that brought them together - Syd had never spent time in North New Jersey, and Nick had recently moved back from Denver.

Fast forward to August 21, 2022, and we find our couple walking hand-in-hand on a gorgeous South Carolina beach, with their furry friend Pepper in tow. As the waves crashed against the shore, Nick dropped down on one knee and asked Syd to be his forever. And guess what? She said YES!

Now, the lovebirds have decided to tie the knot in a stunning New Jersey location, surrounded by their nearest and dearest. We're all here to celebrate the start of their new journey together and wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.

So, let's give it up for Syd and Nick, who have shown us all what true love looks like! Congratulations, and here's to many more adventures together!

Can you make our story sound like the lyrics to a ska-punk song?

Yo, check it out, this is the tale of Syd and Nick
Two cats who met at work, what a cool trick
September 10, 2018, Syd's first day on the grind
Desk next to Nick's, they didn't talk much, but that was fine

They hit up Hoover's Tavern to avoid the traffic jam
At happy hour, they became tight, damn
Then on a summer night in 2019, fate stepped in
"Christmas in July" at Hoover's, it was a win-win

They blew off other plans to kick it together
In a snowball fight, they found love, it was better
Every moment with each other felt like fate
Syd's never been to north Jersey, Nick moved back just of late

On August 21, 2022, they took a walk on the beach
In Garden City, South Carolina, a place within reach
Reflecting on their journey together, Nick asked Syd to be his queen
She said "yes," and their love became a scene

Now they're looking for a spot to get hitched
Somewhere in Jersey, where their love first kicked
This is the story of Syd and Nick, a tale of punk love
Full of ska beats, snowball fights, and blessings from above

Can you sum up our whole story in a phase, as if on the inside of a fortune cookie?

"Love was the happy hour miracle that led Syd and Nick to a beautiful life together."

THE LAKE MOHAWK COUNTRY CLUB

In 1924, The Crane Company’s vision was to create a lake community that would be surrounded by Sussex County, a region of a rolling landscape, wooded hills, many lakes, farms, valleys, and winding roads. In 1928, the first waters of Lake Mohawk splashed over the dam and the Lake was full.

The castle-like structure at the north end of Lake Mohawk is the Clubhouse, the heart of the Lake Mohawk community. In 1988, the Plaza and Clubhouse were placed on the New Jersey and National Register of Historic Places, which qualified because of the uniqueness of the architecture, a style referred to as “Lake Mohawk Tudor” a blend of styles incorporating French Normandy, German Baronial, English Cottage, and Tudor styles.
